Description

100 ml of undiluted SolarGold pearl gold BC basecoat – suitable for standalone use or as a basecoat for Candy paints.

This is a solvent-based 1K basecoat paint (BC / BCB). The ordered quantity will be supplied in one container.

How to use SolarGold Pearl Gold

SolarGold is a gold pearl basecoat with a medium-coarse pearl grain of approx. 10–60 µm. It offers two possible uses:

  • As a standalone colour: after clear coating, it creates a warm metallic-gold effect with a fine pearl sparkle.
  • As a basecoat for Candy paints: it creates a metallic base that enhances the brightness and glow of the transparent Candy layer applied over it.

How to use the paint

SolarGold pearl gold paint for spray gun is supplied as an undiluted solvent-based 1K basecoat paint. We recommend mixing it in a 1:1 ratio with acrylic thinner. It can be used as a gold pearl basecoat for selected Candy paints or as a standalone warm metallic-gold colour finished with a final clear coat. It works especially well under Candy shades such as red, yellow and orange.

Before painting: Surface preparation

Sand, clean and degrease the surface thoroughly before applying the paint system.

How to prepare the surface

1. Black basecoat

Apply 2–3 thin coats of black basecoat for strong contrast, depth and a more visible pearl effect.

Black 1K basecoat for spray gun

2. SolarGold layer

Mix the paint 1:1 with acrylic thinner and apply 2–3 thin coats evenly using smooth cross-coat movements.

Coverage: approx. 0.9 m² per 100 ml of undiluted paint

3. Candy or clear coat

Apply a suitable Candy paint for a warm transparent Candy effect, or finish SolarGold directly with a clear coat.

Coverage and recommended quantity

  • Coverage of undiluted SolarGold: approx. 9 m² / 1 litre
  • Road bike frame: approx. 200 ml
  • Set of 4 alloy wheels, painted on both sides: approx. 300 ml

Tip: SolarGold is best suited as a Candy basecoat for warm transparent shades such as red, yellow and orange. For other Candy colours, always test the combination first, as the gold base can significantly change the final shade. Gloss, satin and matt clear coats are all possible depending on your preference.
