Description

100 ml acrylic Candy Orange basecoat – Basecoat 1K (BCB) for spray gun application.

The paint is supplied as an unthinned solvent-based basecoat in 100 ml units. The ordered volume is always filled into one tin; for larger orders, for example several litres, we use litre containers.

Candy is a three-step paint system that requires a silver metallic or pearlescent basecoat, followed by the Candy effect layer and finally a clear coat for gloss and UV protection.

How Candy paints work

Candy is a transparent effect colour. The final appearance is created by the combination of a metallic basecoat and the number of Candy layers applied – the colour saturation is controlled by the number of thin coats. Candy paint itself does not contain metallic or pearlescent particles; the sparkle and depth come from the metallic base layer underneath.

Recommended basecoats for Candy Orange:

Tip: To keep the shade consistent, paint adjacent parts over the same basecoat and under the same conditions. Always test the result on a sample panel first.

  • Suitable for metal, plastic and wood – for interior and exterior use

How to use the paint

Candy paint for spray gun application is used as a 3-step paint system: metallic basecoat, transparent Candy paint and finally a clear coat. Each additional Candy coat increases the colour saturation and depth of the final shade.

Surface preparation

Sand, clean and thoroughly degrease the surface.

How to prepare the surface

1. Metallic basecoat

Apply 2–3 thin coats. Both the silver SilverTouch and gold Solar Gold basecoats are suitable for this Candy shade. The gold basecoat creates a warmer final colour.

2. Candy paint

Thin the paint 1 : 1 with acrylic thinner. Apply with an LVMP/RP spray gun with a 1.3–1.4 mm nozzle in 3 or more thin coats.

3. Clear coat

Candy paint must be protected with a clear coat. For the best effect, use a high-gloss 2K clear coat.

Choose clear coat

Approximate consumption

  • 100 ml of Candy paint covers approximately 0.6 m² with 3 coats.
  • Candy paint consumption is usually approximately 2–3 times higher than metallic basecoat consumption.
  • For 1 litre of SilverTouch or Solar Gold, allow approximately 2–3 litres of Candy paint.
  • For a full respray of a typical passenger car, allow approximately 2–2.5 litres of basecoat and 5 litres of Candy paint.

Important: Apply the same number of Candy coats to all adjoining panels. Each additional coat makes the final shade darker.
