How to Paint Ghost Pearl: Spray Can & Spray Gun Guide
Ghost Pearl – spray can application guide (400 ml)
Ghost Pearl = a fine iridescent effect that becomes visible mainly in strong light. To achieve the correct effect, you need a white, matte base coat without sand-through spots and a final clear coat, ideally 2K. Before painting, we recommend reading our surface preparation guide: How to prepare the surface before painting.
Apply white BC basecoat in 2–3 thin coats with approx. 5 minutes flash-off time between coats. The goal is a uniform matte surface without glossy spots.
After the final coat, allow approx. 20 minutes flash-off time until the surface is no longer tacky to the touch.
2) Ghost Pearl spray can
Shake the spray can for at least 2 minutes. Before applying to the final part, make a test spray on a sample panel.
Apply 2–3 very thin mist coats with approx. 10 minutes flash-off time between coats. Spray from a distance of 20–30 cm with even overlap, approx. 70%.
Work smoothly without stopping unnecessarily. This helps prevent stripes and uneven effect. Check the effect from different angles and under different light.
After the final coat, allow the Ghost Pearl layer to flash off for approx. 30–40 minutes. The surface must be dry enough to be lightly wiped with an antistatic tack cloth.
3) Clear coat, ideally 2K
Choose gloss, satin or matte according to the desired final look. Apply the clear coat in 2 medium coats, or 3 thin coats, according to the TDS of the selected clear coat.
When using a 2K spray can, respect the pot life after activation. If you apply clear coat the next day, lightly matt the surface first.
Tips for a better result:
Temperature: keep both the spray can and the part at room temperature. In cold conditions, the can may be warmed briefly in lukewarm water, approx. 30–35 °C.
Keep the spray can upright at all times, with the valve and nozzle facing up. Tilting the can into a horizontal position can cause spitting, drops and pressure loss.
Start each pass outside the painted area and finish beyond it. Press the nozzle before reaching the part and release it only after passing the opposite edge.
Nozzle: clean it regularly to prevent spitting caused by drying paint around the nozzle.
Paint multi-part projects as one visible set where possible, so the shade and effect match across all parts.
Ghost Pearl comes alive in sunlight or strong light. Indoors, the effect appears more subtle and discreet.
Safety
Work in a well-ventilated area and use protective gloves, safety glasses and a respirator suitable for organic solvents. Always follow the safety data sheet (SDS) of the selected products.

2) Ghost Pearl
Thin the Ghost Pearl 1:1, paint : thinner. Use an HVLP spray gun with a 1.3–1.4 mm nozzle.
Apply 2–3 very thin coats with approx. 10 minutes flash-off time between coats. Work smoothly with even distance and overlap.
Allow approx. 40 minutes flash-off time. The surface must be dry enough to be lightly wiped with an antistatic tack cloth.
3) Clear coat
Choose clear coat in gloss, satin or matte according to your preference. Apply according to the manufacturer’s TDS. We recommend a 2K clear coat for better durability and surface protection.
Always make a test spray on a sample panel before painting the final part to check colour, technique and gloss level.
The paint and the painted part should both be at room temperature.
For multi-part projects, paint the visible sides together to keep the shade and effect consistent.
